Arbour Vale School is a Specialist Sports College and a National Inclusion Partner School supporting other schools across Berkshire with inclusive Physical Education and Sport. This is a wonderful achievement and we are very proud to have the opportunity to further develop and enrich the lives of all our pupils and the community through sport.
We provide all our pupils with a minimum of two hours quality Physical Education each week, as well as providing opportunities for accreditation in various Sports Leaders awards and GCSE PE. In addition, we offer Rebound Therapy, Hydrotherapy and a range of out of hours activities through a variety of clubs. We provide support to other schools and to community groups both in terms of resources, facilities and staff expertise.
Arbour Vale has achieved ‘Gold’ Partner status with the Youth Sport Trust in recognition of our commitment to raising achievement in PE and Sports and creating opportunities for all pupils to succeed.
Arbour Vale School contributes to raising standards in Physical Education and Sport for all by:
- Using the values, ethos and cultures to create a Sports College that is a centre of excellence for physical education and community sport, as well as leading on inclusive sports competition in schools.
- Using our existing high quality teaching and learning to extend and enrich the curriculum, provide more out-of-hours learning opportunities, stimulate a wealth of coaching and professional development courses and increase participation in sport.
- Raising self-esteem and self-confidence through success in sport and physical education activities, making a positive impact upon standards and achievement across the curriculum.
- Working with partner schools and the wider community of schools within the Slough School Sport Network to develop good practice resulting in high quality inclusive Physical Education and Sport.
